Facilities Assistant - Student

Position Summary
The Facilities Assistant - Student will provide support on all building and facilitates related issues. This individual will represent the Kansas State University Foundation in a professional manner while interacting with donors, campus partners and other Foundation employees. This is a temporary part time, non-exempt, student position.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assist facilities and technology specialist in all aspects of maintenance which includes but is not limited to: painting, replacing light bulbs, cleaning/replacing damaged carpet or other furniture, assisting with installation of new furniture or building related items.
  2. Assist facilitates and technology specialist in the implementation and support of all audio/video systems in the building.
  3. Setup multi-purpose rooms for meetings. Assist staff with audio/video needs while meetings are in progress.
  4. Assist donor engagement staff with setup, teardown, and support of all events at the KSU Foundation.
  5. Complete scheduled tasks such as: walking property and collecting trash, filling cups and other supplies in the kitchenettes, assisting facilities & technology specialist with monthly tests of the fire alarm system.
  6. Assist facilities and technology specialist in construction related issues such as: pulling cable, installing building access controls, installation of building audio/video solutions.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be currently enrolled in coursework at Kansas State University.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to work closely with all internal departments.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record required.

Travel:

  • No travel required.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is primarily sedentary. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May require occasional physical exertion such as long periods of sitting or standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
  • Requires recurring lifting of heavy items and must be able to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in building maintenance.
  • Experience installing/supporting building audio/video system’s.
  • Experience pulling and terminating data cabling such as CAT6.
  • Experience supporting large events.
