Portfolio Analyst

Position Summary

The Portfolio analyst is responsible for meeting with fundraisers to support campus-wide fundraising efforts through initiation, promotion, coordination, and management of an effective prospect management program. This position will serve as a guide to donor assignment and cultivation and solicitation strategies for the Kansas State University Foundation’s leadership and the fundraisers. In addition, the portfolio analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the prospect records in the database.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Plan, schedule and lead prospect development sessions in collaboration with development leaders, fundraisers and Prospect Analytics & Research.
  2. Evaluate portfolios by prospect stage, size, balance, value, and yield in an effort to optimize portfolio composition. Partner with fundraising staff to initiate enhancements.
  3. In conjunction with Prospect Analytics & Research, monitor the proposal pipeline to identify gaps and opportunities, thereby strengthening forecasts and elevating fundraising potential.
  4. Maintain the integrity of the centralized prospect analytics system to provide a record of highly confidential prospect information. This position is heavily focused on data entry resulting from interactions with fundraisers and audits to align prospect information when out of sync.
  5. Train on departmental policy and procedures, including use of database and reporting systems.
  6. Support the organizational volunteer structure (boards, committees, etc.) in an effort to grow the volunteer continuum and document the historical record of volunteer engagement.
  7. Partner with Prospect Analytics & Research to support campaign planning through feasibility studies, prospect pool assessment and strategies, and gift pyramids.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of three years professional work experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer or prospect management principles and practices.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in prioritization and managing multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
  • Analytical skill to assess data for irregularities, anticipate problems, formulate logical conclusions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations and implement changes.
  • Proven track record in the area of customer service. Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner and respond quickly and appropriately to customer requests.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record required.

Travel:

  • No travel required.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is primarily sedentary. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May require occasional physical exertion such as long periods of sitting or standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in higher education fundraising, or complex non-profit environment.
  • Prospect or customer data management experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the prospect fundraising cycle.
  • Experience with Agilon’s ONE database is preferred.
