Development Coordinator- College of Engineering

Responsible for day-to-day support to the College/Unit fundraising team to keep things running smoothly. He/she will act as a generalist across the department, leading projects, identifying and promoting best practices, supporting the on-boarding and training of new hires and activating communication for the College/Unit. The Coordinator is the onsite point of contact to many external stake holders including alumni, donors, and volunteers as well as university administrators, deans, department heads, professional staff and faculty, who wish to interact with the College/Unit fundraising team. This position is highly collaborative with cross functional colleagues, and works closely with University and Foundation leadership. The Development Coordinator will oversee the College/Unit donor acknowledgement process and will assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events for the College/Unit.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assist with developing, implementing and measuring progress towards annual goals, objectives and strategies to maximize private support through various sources (individuals, corporations, foundations and planned giving vehicles) for the College/Unit.
  2. Provide administrative support to the College/Unit by tracking and measuring prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for prospective and present donors to the College/Unit and Kansas State University.
  3. Provide administrative support to unit volunteer boards as assigned.
  4. Provide training/assistance to new hires in areas pertaining to development coordinator responsibilities.
  5. Provide College/Unit continuity by attending staff meetings, planning agendas and coordinating schedules, prioritizing workload within assigned unit and serve as a liaison between university staff and development team.
  6. Maintain donor and fund database, pull development reports and manage data related projects as directed.
  7. Coordinate fund raising communications, including answering the telephone, directing calls, sending e-mails and setting appointments for the College/Unit.
  8. Reconcile expense reports monthly.
  9. Serve as the College/Unit’s primary in-office contact for donors and administrators.
  10. Participate and support College/Unit fundraising activities and events as requested.
  11. Maintain confidentiality regarding all correspondence and communications related to the foundation and its donors.

Requirements:         

  • 2-3 years professional experience in a professional office with focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse customers, stakeholders, and peers through verbal and written means.
  • Customer centric approach with the ability to listen and translate the needs of others into action.
  • Proficient use of programs in the Microsoft Office suite
  • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Position is primarily sedentary, must be able to sit for long periods of time. May require some physical exertion such as recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Mastery of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Previous experience using CRM software.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize projects and plans to deliver results.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on projects.
  • Experience with non-profits, ideally in higher education.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the university, the mission of the foundation and the college unit.
  • Driven and hard working.
