Constituent Relations Manager

Position Summary

The Constituent Relations Manager for the College of Engineering will act as primary liaison between the development unit and the College of Engineering Dean’s office to provide support specifically to the College of Engineering Advisory Council and the Engineering Leadership and Innovation program. The Constituent Relations Manager will act as a generalist across the department, leading projects and providing oversight of workflow to other unit coordinators and support staff to ensure key tasks are covered and that the department is running smoothly.  S/he will provide high-level proactive administrative support, communication and organizational skills to the team and participate in the planning and execution of events and programs. The Constituent Relations Manager will provide mentorship to development support staff and will assist in training of best practices and process improvements.  S/he develops and implements both annual and long-range goals, objectives and strategies to maximize private support from alumni, friends and corporations.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assist with and/or lead projects and programs in the unit as needed. Provide key strategic direction in planning and implementing projects specifically related to the College of Engineering Advisory Council and Engineering Leadership and Innovation program (Corporate Partners Program).
  2. Makes effective use of the university’s prospect management database and dashboards to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni and volunteers. Utilizes database to create reports, spreadsheets and manage database related projects as directed.
  3. Plan, develop and organize special activities and events in conjunction with the event staff as needed, including managing the respective college’s activities calendar to promote opportunities for donor cultivation.
  4. Provide team continuity by attending staff meetings, planning schedules, prioritizing workload within assigned team and acting as a liaison between university staff and development staff.
  5. Develop, implement and manage student-donor appreciation initiatives for the college, providing students with organized opportunities to connect with donors and express their appreciation for donor support.
  6. Provide training/assistance to new hires and unit administration for the purpose of running reports and general knowledge of annual giving procedures.
  7. Other work related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years professional work experience a professional office with focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Proven track record in proactive support of a team and the demonstrated ability to master responsibilities and take on more.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with a diverse donor base, university partners, foundation colleagues and peers through verbal and written means.
  • Desire to be informed, and stay up to date on all university news, especially in the areas of research and accomplishments, and all news and information regarding major donors.
  • Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule as required to cover events that may take place on evenings and weekends.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record required.


  • No travel required.

Physical Demands:               

  • Work is primarily sedentary. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May require occasional physical exertion such as long periods of sitting or standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize projects and plans to deliver results.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on projects.
  • Experience with non-profits, ideally in higher education.
  • Service oriented approach with the ability to listen and translate the needs of the donor into action.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the university, the mission of the foundation and the various programs and campaigns.
  • Driven and hard working.
  • Proficient use of programs in the Microsoft Office suite.
